Academy of Art unlikely to see all its buildings approved, city says

The Academy of Art University is unlikely to see all 33 of its buildings that are currently violating city codes approved by San Francisco's Planning Commission as the institution struggles to come to a resolution with regulators.

“We will not likely recommend the approval of all the projects that come to you,” City Planning Director John Rahaim told the commission, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The academy owns 40 buildings in San Francisco, but only seven are operating legally, and many of them have been improperly converted to student housing or academic spaces.
